Bali Travel Itinerary
Most of my travels thus far have been to Europe. I am so excited to announce that I am headed to the island of Bali, Indonesia as my very first travel destination in Asia! Looking back, I have probably done my travels a little backwards. I traveled expensive Europe, mostly as a poor student, and am starting to explore cheaper Asia now that I have a steady income to fund my travels. Such is life!
I am headed to Bali with my bestie and travel buddy Kelsie. She is getting married next year (2018), so this is kind of our last hurrah (for a while anyways!). She has been to Bali previously, visiting and volunteering at a Deaf and Hard of Hearing School in Denpasar. Fortunately for me, she did not do many of the touristy things, so everything is a new sight and experience for both of us.
We leave in 53 days!
Here is our itinerary:
4: Depart Vancouver at 02:00 (ew!), flying with Eva Air
5: Arrive in Taiwan at 04:40, connecting flight at 10:00, arrive in Denpasar at 15:15, transfer to Ubud
10: Leave Ubud, ferry from Sanur to Gili Air
11: Gili Air
12: Gili Air
13: Gili Air
14: Gili Air
15: Gili Air
16: Leave Gili Air, ferry to Padang Bai, transfer to Sidemen
19: Leave Sidemen, ferry to Nusa Lembongan Island
20: Nusa Lembongan
21: Nusa Lembongan
22: Leave Nusa Lembongan, ferry to Sanur, transfer to Seminyak area
24: Depart Denpasar at 16:15, arrive home in Vancouver at 19:50
We have some really nice long stretches of time in Ubud and Gili Air.
Ubud is often described as the heart of Bali. There is so much to see and experience in Ubud, we needed 4 full days, if not more. Some of our plans in and around Ubud include temples, rice terraces, yoga, waterfall tours and hiking.
Gili Air is going to be tropical paradise, somewhere between the busy, partying of Gili Trawangan and the quiet stillness of Gili Meno. Our plans include some serious beach time, lots of snorkeling and relaxing.
Sidemen is a little gem that I found when looking for somewhere a little off the beaten path. Not really sure what to expect here quite yet!
Nusa Lembongan some more beach and snorkeling time away from the resort areas of South Bali.
Seminyak is for some shopping and winding down prior to home time and, perhaps visiting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing School that Kelsie visited a few years ago.
